Deadline approaches for MRA scholarships

April 1 is the deadline for MRA college scholarship applications for the 2008-2009 academic year. Members were mailed detailed information about the scholarship program in January.

Forty-five scholarships are available, which is a record for the program. They are funded through earnings on the assets of Michigan Retailers Foundation. Awards are $1,000 for public or private college students and $500 for community college students.

To be eligible, the student or a parent or guardian must work at an MRA-member business. High school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores and juniors may apply. Financial need is not a consideration.
